Delhi school kids walk the ramp
It’s not everyday that you see designers walking down the ramp in their own creations. And then, it's not everyday that designers as young as high school kids get to showcase their talent in front of a packed auditorium. Well, some lucky students from reputed Delhi schools got an opportunity to walk down the ramp in their own creations at ‘A’ La Mode’ which was basically an inter-school design contest held by the design school, Mod’Art International.

Bang on Time: The event started well on time with the MD of the design school, Nishant Joshi giving a welcome speech. The chief guest at the event was fashion designer, Arjun Khanna, who had flown down from Mumbai especially for the event.
When asked about the reason of his absence from the Delhi circuit, he replied, “I’ve just shifted base to Goa where my third designer store is coming up.
I do not like the maddening rush of big cities and thus, have shifted base to Goa. So, anyone who wishes to get his clothes designed by me will have to come down to any of my stores, as I don’t believe in outsourcing my brand.”
Let the creative juices flow: The event saw participation from 17 Delhi schools. The contestants were asked to work on their old denims.
The participants made judicious and creative use of all possible things to accessorise their denims, right from colourful office clips to bandhini to graffiti embossed on their jeans. Abhilasha Arya of KR Mangalam School, Pitampura won the contest.
All for a good cause: The proceeds from the events were donated to Vatsalya School, which is a school for the specially-abled. Post the ramp show; the specially abled kids gave a heart-warming performance on a medley of songs which left the audiences impressed.
